Some herbal acne remedies that we can recommend are listed below.
Calendula: calendula can be found in lotions creams and tinctures. You can also make a tea of calendula to wash your face.
Basil: a Basil-based oilcan be purchased from a health food store and applied to the skin following the directions on the product. You can also take her to make an infusion by placing a few dried basil leaves in a cup adding some boiling water leaving for about 30 minutes. Once it is cool apply to the affected area.
Amaranth: an infusion can be made from amaranth seeds to be used as a face wash. Add some amaranth seeds to a club at boiling water and simmer for about five minutes. Leave to cool and then use as a face wash.
Burdock: burdock has been used for treating acne and other chronic skin problems for many years. Used to cut dried root of burdock and simmer in boiling water for about 10 minutes.
Leave for about two hours then use to wash your skin.
Tea Tree Oil: tea tree oil contains an antiseptic compound which is very good as a skin disinfectant and will kill the bacteria that cause acne. It should never be used at more than 10% concentration as this can cause redness and irritation. For those who find benzoyl peroxide to irritating to the skin tea tree oil is a good alternative although slightly less effective.
